make / manufacturer: Reynolds
model name / number: Emperor Model 5
Up for sale is a 1955 Reynolds Emperor Trumpet (Model 5) made in Cleveland Ohio by the Roth Reynolds Company. SN 38100 Beautiful condition Two tone bell. (Yellow brass bell tube / Nickel silver bell flare). Lacquer has been removed and finish is polished raw brass. It is a ML .458 bore and has a gorgeous full sound from the nickel silver bell flare. It sings a gorgeous full sound, has great compression, the valves are smooth, quick, fast, very nice free blowing and valves are lined up. It has no piston plating loss, and super clean piston ports, it is super clean in and out. This horn is totally clean with no signs of any red rot. Sale includes original hard case and Reynolds 7A MP.

These horns with the nickel bell are somewhat rare, as this is only the 3rd one that I have had the privilege of restoring over my 15 year period of working on horns as a hobby. In my opinion, the Reynolds Emperor is on par with the Olds Special or Holton Super Collegiate (Its main competitors back in the day) very similar materials and have very similar playing characteristics. This Emperor is a very fine playing trumpet indeed.

I repair / service horns as a hobby and am an amateur player for 35+ years. I go through all the horns I sell, repair what is necessary then disassemble, thoroughly clean the internals, clean and polish all slide tubes, then reassemble and properly lubricate all moving parts. I thoroughly play test every horn I sell. This one is ready to play. My end goal is to put good quality horns in the hands of students / comeback players at affordable prices. I don't sell anything I wouldn't regularly play.
