Ming Asparagus Fern is a houseplant in our area but can summer outside. It looks almost like a clump of pine trees. It DOES bite, though, with sharp spines at the base of its branches. It can be a bit floppy, so I stake my larger stalks. I also cut the tops from new stalks to control height.
