Wow, this area really likes to show it's true colors. Coming from both sides of the fence, I'll agree about the originals not going over well in this area to a point. It is very hard to start an original band here, even if you are good. I won't name names, but I was part of a band that had a very hard time getting quality gigs here in the last few years, but if we went to NYC, Philly, Jersey, etc, we would play for huge packed clubs, with multiple band lineups, and the crowds would dig it. So, while I understand the original "cover bands must die" poster's frustration, I also disagree. It's not the cover band's fault that this area has a terrible original music scene, it is the type of music fans we have around here. And that is not a cut on the people here, it is what it is. The cover bands are smart business minded people that are taking advantage of the situation at hand. look, if you think you are the best out there, hit the road. Go where the market is. No one is stopping you. Degrading the local cover scene is not going to make the people here want your music. Rather than piss and moan about it, DO SOMETHING. Good luck.
